The wind might not be as strong as first suspected | Sunday, April 17, 2005

In my last post, I express my worries about the possible loss of a job, and the triumph of the Devil...er, I mean Verizon. Today the company owner was in and was in surprisingly good spirits. It is a well known fact here, at my job, that the owner takes this business very personally, and that he and the business are pretty much the same entity...Therefore, we have all assumed that the loss of this business would be a terrible loss for him personally (like losing an arm or something).
Today, however, he was his witty, quirky, weird self. This has bestowed some confidence in me, as it gives me hope that there is still some life left in this ISP. I shall still not give up my pursuit of locating backup employment, but shall continue at this position with the confidence that the fight isn't over yet, and Verizon may still have some competition in this little valley.

As for current coworkers, keep your ears perked, eyes open, and lets give it our all for our employer, our community, and to poke a finger in Verizon's eye while we're at it!

Changes in the wind... | Wednesday, April 13, 2005

It has been heard through the grapevine that changes may be coming to my place of employment...changes not for the better...and it hurts...

Not so much in that I may be at risk of losing a job, but that the big guy is winning...I'm one of those people that always roots for the underdog, quite possibly because I've always felt as the underdog in my endeavors. The company I work for now has been a staple of this small, yet thriving, community for many years now and it'll hurt to see it go when and if it does.

Now I cannot substantiate my claims, but what I've heard recently only goes to further a general feeling of withering out along with the disappearing dialup service that has supported the company for so long.

As for my colleagues, who tend to be the few that visit my site, please don't fret. This is not more than hearsay, but do be advised. Now is the time to not get caught with your pants down (so to speak). We're all talented people, and there are many opportunities out there. Start getting a feel for 'em now so that you're ready if and when **it hits the fan.

An addition to this post:

The big man at the little ISP has had a bit of a downturn in that the unmentionable spy software has taken a turn for the worst. Currently screenshots are not viewable remotely...but not sure about the msn data stream viewing, so be ware ;-)
